The UK Video Games Council has officially launched, bringing together a powerhouse group of business leaders to shape the future of the UK’s £7.8 billion games and interactive entertainment sector.
Co-chaired by Jason Kingsley CBE (Rebellion) and Nick Button-Brown (Outright Games), the Council will work in partnership with government to unlock growth, champion innovation, and strengthen the UK’s position as a global hub for games development.
Formed as part of the UK Government’s Creative Industries Sector Vision, the Council acts as a strategic advisory body, offering expert insight on talent, investment, international reach, and more. Members represent the full breadth of the UK games ecosystem, from major publishers to independent studios, platform holders to education providers.

Council members will meet twice a year with the Minister for Creative Industries to provide strategic guidance on growing the sector and unlocking its economic, cultural, and educational potential. The UK Video Games Council is a key pillar of the Government’s broader industrial strategy, which recognises games as a vital part of the UK’s creative economy and technological future.
Membership of the Council
Council membership has been agreed through an industry-led process with Ukie and TIGA. Selections to the council have been made to reflect the breadth, expertise and leadership across the UK video games and interactive sector. Members of the UK Games Council are appointed for an initial term of up to three years – details on the process of future appointments will be issued in due course.
