The UK Video Games Council gives the UK games industry a single, coordinated and independent voice in national policy. Established in August 2025 and convened with the Department for Culture, Media and Sport, it brings together large studios and publishers, independents, mobile developers, platform holders and the regions, working alongside Ukie and TIGA. The Council is chaired by Nick Button-Brown, with Kirsty Rigden (FuturLab) as Deputy Chair.

In its first year, the Council helped raise UK Games Fund prototype grants to £100k, secure a £500m British Business Bank guarantee for IP-backed lending, speed up Video Games Expenditure Credit processing and win official SIC code recognition for games. In the coming year we will be focusing on the games growth strategy, a 5 to 10 year plan to make the UK a better place to build games companies.
